Allow for some time before winding down for bed to reflect on the day that's been. Things you accomplished. Things that perhaps you might have done better. Switch off social media at least 30 minutes before you lie down.
Consider preparing your breakfast the night before if you know it's going to be a hassle in the morning. This will allow you to have a little time to actually breathe in the morning. Maybe meditate. Allow for some time to embrace the start of each day. My Dad sets me an example by getting up at 5.30 every morning to practice yoga!
During the day, especially if you're really busy, take out some brief moments to just be still and breathe. If you can, go for a walk. Set a simple goal, using a Health App, of walking up to 10.000 steps a day if possible.
Don't take work home with you if possible. Switching off from work is difficult in some situations but don't keep checking your work emails or always feeling you have to take work calls. Take an interest in those you live with or who you regularly communicate with. I've found reading something completely unrelated to my line of work really helps. Whilst studying and improving as a trainer is a must, I am also aware of when I need to completely get away from anything fitness related.
During the evening avoid social media overload. There are just too many things for the mind to process which can lead to anxiety and the inability to switch off. I've found switching my phone off, and prioritising no less than 20 minutes reading time, enables me to chill. This prevents being easily distracted by WhatsApp group madness, Instagram selfies and stuff that you simply want to avoid as you allow your mind to declutter. Be peaceful. Be enthused about the possibilities of tomorrow. Feel gratitude.
